Making a few changes around the house

We’ve only been in this house for about two years now, and money has been tight, so we take the changes a little at a time, when we can spend a few dollars to buy something to fix it up, we do.  I’m a nut for saving energy (because it saves us money) and I have been asking my hubby for months to buy some of those timer light switches that you turn a dial and the light only stays on for a few minutes and then shuts off.  Most people use those for bathroom exhaust fans, if they use them at all.  Well, I wanted one for each exhaust fan (we have two) AND one for the light to the back deck.  I wanted that one because people are always letting the dogs in and out through that door, and they forget to turn the light off.  So that light stays on almost all the time for no reason at all.

Finally my hubby installed the timer switch on that light today!  You can’t imagine how thrilled I am that he finally did that!  YAY!

School bus driver only suspended??????

I was watching the news this morning and there was a news story being shown about a school bus driver (I think in Massachusetts) who drove the school bus (loaded with children) through a railroad crossing that had the lights on and the crossing arms were being lowered.  The crossing arms actually hit the bus!  It was all caught on tape (I’m not quite sure how that happened that it was caught on tape.)

Anyway, the news story said that the school bus driver was suspended.  Only suspended?  Why not fired?  Why not prosecuted for reckless endangerment?  I think that is OUTRAGEOUS!

If I were stinking filthy rich

I would love to pay off all of the debts of my parents, brothers and sisters. It is hard to see all of us struggle so hard to make ends meet.

Ted Kennedy’s tumor

I was so very saddened to hear about Ted Kennedy’s tumor.  That poor family has had so much grief in their history, it really is a shame.  Of all of the Kennedy brothers, I have to admit that he was not my favorite, but he has been a champion for the impoverished, which is a topic that is dear to me.  He has been such a positive political influence on our country that it is hard to imagine anyone else being able to champion the causes as well as he has been able to do.  I’ve heard that the doctors have given him only a year or less to live; I hope that they are mistaken and that they are able to treat this more successfully than that.  It never ceases to amaze me how much technology has advanced, yet so many people die from things like cancer and aids.  It seems to me that if we really focused on health issues like that instead of waging stupid wars, that would be a good thing!

Male menopause

My sister was telling me that her hubby is going through male menopause.  She said that with her going through female menopause at the same time, they are quite the pair!  She said they both have night sweats so bad that they have to change the bed sheets twice a night!

She told me that the symptoms of male menopause are the same as female menopause; crankiness, hot flashes, night sweats.  She explained to me that what that means is that his body is no longer producing as much testosterone as it needs for him to stay healthy.  She told me that he is going to be using some kinds of Bodybuilding Supplements from the Internet store IllPumpYouUp.com that inhibit his body’s ability to produce estrogen, which should increase his testosterone levels.  I hope it helps!
