I was watching the news this morning and there was a news story being shown about a school bus driver (I think in Massachusetts) who drove the school bus (loaded with children) through a railroad crossing that had the lights on and the crossing arms were being lowered.  The crossing arms actually hit the bus!  It was all caught on tape (I’m not quite sure how that happened that it was caught on tape.)

Anyway, the news story said that the school bus driver was suspended.  Only suspended?  Why not fired?  Why not prosecuted for reckless endangerment?  I think that is OUTRAGEOUS!

Shopping in the UK

Posted by Monica 24 May 2008

My cousin was telling me about a website that she uses a lot to find products that she is shopping for over in England. She loves to buy and wear a lot of jewellery and buys it frequently from this particular website.  The website is the UK’s version of our American shopping.com - she uses www.uk.shopping.com.  Similar to our American counterpart, you can find product reviews and comparison shop for a large variety of products such as garden products, computers, jewelry, furniture, clothing, and lingerie.  It really does seem as if Internet has exponentially accelerated the growth of the global marketplace!

If I were stinking filthy rich

Posted by Monica 24 May 2008

I often wonder what I would do with my money if I were stinking filthy rich.  Obviously, I would pay off my bills, but then what????  Would I share my wealth with my parents, brothers and sisters, or just with my hubby and kids?  I like to think that I would have enough money to share with all of my close relatives, and make everyone’s life a little bit easier.  My hubby and I talk about this subject from time to time.  Sometimes we agree that we would share with everyone, sometimes we decide not to share.  I’ll probably never have to make that decision in real life, but it is something I think about from time to time.

Velvet Angel Md-Lg

Lord Lucifer CostumeBush Jr MaskI feel that all politicians wear masks all of the time.  I’m just glad they don’t try to wear sexy halloween costumes too!  That would be gross!

You can’t trust any of them to fulfill their promises.  They’ll say just about anything they feel they need to say to make their constituents that they happen to be with at the moment happy.  I think that maybe we should force all of them to take lie detector tests before we allow them to run for office and see just how many lies they plan to tell in order to get elected!  And I think we should make them take lie detector tests twice a year after they get elected to ask them important questions about their integrity, and if they lie, they should be kicked out of office!

I think that the perfect Halloween costume this coming autumn would be a devil costume with a George Bush mask.  What could be scarier (or funnier) than that?????   I think that this fall when my hubby & I go to the annual Halloween costume party for the Elks club, I’ll dress up like an angel, he can dress up like the devil and we’ll call ourselves “heaven and hell.”    I like to wear costumes and go to costume parties, I think they are a lot of fun to plan, buy, or make, and then go out and have fun wearing them.  Maybe we’ll even win a “couple’s” prize in the costume contest!  There is a great website called costumecauldron.com that sells a huge variety of Halloween costumes, from scary costumes, to funny costumes, to pretty costumes.  They sell all different sizes, infant through adult, and they even sell pet costumes!

If you are interested in buying a costume from this website, you can get a discount code by going through their “Haunted house back door” by going halfway down the homepage and clicking on the brown comma in the line that reads “Our Store now has over 8,000 masquerade items for you to choose from!”

Ted Kennedy’s tumor

Posted by Monica 21 May 2008

I was so very saddened to hear about Ted Kennedy’s tumor.  That poor family has had so much grief in their history, it really is a shame.  Of all of the Kennedy brothers, I have to admit that he was not my favorite, but he has been a champion for the impoverished, which is a topic that is dear to me.  He has been such a positive political influence on our country that it is hard to imagine anyone else being able to champion the causes as well as he has been able to do.  I’ve heard that the doctors have given him only a year or less to live; I hope that they are mistaken and that they are able to treat this more successfully than that.  It never ceases to amaze me how much technology has advanced, yet so many people die from things like cancer and aids.  It seems to me that if we really focused on health issues like that instead of waging stupid wars, that would be a good thing!
