Future Steel Buildings

When my husband and I first moved into this house, one of the things my hubby said he wanted to do as soon as possible is to construct a big storage shed/garage/work shop in the back yard. Something along the line of the type of building that Future Steel Buildings sells would do the trick nicely.

We have discussed this desire several times since then, and we have finally agreed that since we took in a few more people to live with us, we could use the extra storage space that a Future steel buildings garage would provide. I have applied for a home equity line of credit with our local bank and my husband has started to look around for the kit that we can afford that will meet our needs. He wants to have enough room in there for three vehicles and a commercial lift so when he works on his cars he doesn’t have to crawl underneath it. I hope my hubby realizes that our budget will only go so far!

Do you use a GPS device?

Whenever my hubby and I go someplace out of town, we try to bring a GPS device with use. Most of the time we already know the way to where we are going, but I like to use it anyway, because it helps us to determine a detour around a traffic jam if we come across an accident. And there have been times when we have accidentally missed a turn because we had a brain cramp (or you can call it a senior moment if you prefer) and it is nice to have a GPS there to remind us that the turn is coming up, or if we miss the turn because of unforeseeable circumstance, it helps us get to our destination with a recalculated route after we missed the turn.

I’d love to buy a zumo 220 GPS for my hubby’s birthday for him to put on his Harley. He’s always getting lost on it, and having a GPS on his Harley would help him to stay on track. My biggest concern about buying anything for his Harley, though, is how safe from thieves will it be? I’d hate to spend a fortune on something like that just to have it stolen off his bike!

How many welders does one man need?

Yesterday I was looking for my missing drill by rummaging around the garage. My husband has a habit of borrowing my drill from time to time and forgetting to bring it back to me to put away in the craft room closet. And he was using the drill to help repair a couple of dining room chairs by replacing some of the seats, so I really can’t complain when he borrows it. (Although I always wonder why he can’t find his own drill!) So I was looking for my drill and found it in a box with three miller welders in it. I was very surprised because in all of the ten years we’ve been married I have never seen my husband weld anything! So tell me, how many welders does one man need, anyway?

Charitable Donations

I had no idea that there was a need nor the option to donate timeshares these days. Apparently there a lot of special needs children that can benefit from charitable donation gifts such as a timeshare, which I think it really cool. Not only can you donate the typical car or truck, but you can donate just about any kind of transportation item including boats, tractors and airplanes and tractors, now how cool is that?

This is the time of the year that people are really starting to think about donating things, with the end of the year fast approaching and the need to donate things in order to use them for tax write off purposes is strong. So donating anything is a win-win situation all the way around for everyone involved. It isn’t often that anything that you do has that benefit, right?

So if you haven’t thought about donating yet, now is definitely the time to start, before you know we will be totally involved in all of the holidays that keep us on fast forward and things get really crazy.

Price checking

Every year my hubby tells me that he wants to do some comparison shopping of car insurance rates for our vehicles.  He’s always inspired by all of the commercials on television about how many companies offer cheap car insurance, and he is always looking for ways to save money on things like that so he can spend money on other things that he wants to do.

I can’t blame him for wanting to get cheaper car insurance, but I really suspect that since all of us here in the household have gotten speeding tickets in the past two years, that switching to a different company might not save us money at all.  Once they see we’ve all gotten tickets we might not be able to even be covered at the rates we currently have!  But I’ve told him to go ahead and check if he wants to; it’s no skin off of my nose, and if he can save us some money, well then I’m all for it!
